The Clinical Visit

During regular appointments with the Columbia Wound Healing Center, we check on the status of your wound and adjust your treatments accordingly. Individuals with chronic wounds should visit us weekly. During these visits, the wound is assessed for redness and drainage, as well as digitally photographed.

Initially you will meet with Dr. Ray Ortega, the Program Director, who will personally direct your treatment plan. Please have as many of your family members or caregivers come to this initial visit as possible to educate them about your care.

Data from wound photographs can also be used to provide support documentation for a clinical diagnosis, ensure adherence to prescribed protocols, and maintain continuity of care.

Please keep us informed about all medications you are taking. If there are any changes in your medications, let us know immediately. You should write down a complete list of your medications, including medication name, dosage, and frequency (how often you take the medication).
