Your Kidney Transplant Immunosuppressant Medications


OKT3®

OKT3® (monoclonal antibody)

PurposeOKT3 is an immunosuppressive medicine that helps prevent organ rejection.
DosageAdministered intravenously only.

Adults: Usually receive 5 to 10mg per day over 7 to 14 days.

Children: Usually receive 2.5 to 5 mg per day over 7 to 14 days.
WhenThe transplant team orders the medication and it will be administered by the physician during your hospitalization, or in the Comprehensive Transplant Center after your discharge.
Common Side EffectsFever, chills, flu-like symptoms, shortness of breath, headache, lowered blood pressure, joint pain, diarrhea.
