Surgical Science Celebrates Renovated Laboratories

Paul Milstein Institute for Surgical Science Dedicated

To celebrate the completed renovation of Columbia University Department of Surgery's Surgical Science laboratories, the Department hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and Champagne toast on June 11, 2002. Laboratory directors led tours of their laboratories, and visitors were able to view poster presentations describing ongoing research projects within each laboratory.

In gratitude to the Milsteins for establishing a new Institute for Surgical Science, a plaque was unveiled by, from left:

Fischbach, MD, Dean, Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, and Vice President, Columbia Health Sciences; Mrs. Paul Milstein; Ann Marie Schmidt, MD, Chief, Surgical Science; Mr. Paul Milstein; Eric A. Rose, MD, Chairman, Columbia University Department of Surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief, Columbia University Medical Center; Mr. Howard Milstein; and Kenneth A. Forde, MD, Vice Chairman, External Affairs, Columbia University Department of Surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Milstein, and their son, Howard Milstein, benefactors of the Division of Surgical Science, toured newly renovated Surgical Science laboratories.
Howard Milstein expressed his gratitude for the outstanding care received by his father, Paul Milstein, at Columbia University Medical Center.
