Want to catch your surgeon in his or her boxers? You can, if you participate in the next annual Undy 5000 Fun Run. This year, six faculty and staff from the Department of Surgery participated in the Colon Cancer Alliance Undy 5000 Run/Walk in Long Branch, NJ. Funds raised from the event will help the organization to promote access to screening, help patients receive treatment, and to conduct research in colon cancer.

The story behind the underwear? According to the Colon Cancer Alliance, “Participants in the Undy 5000 will be encouraged to draw attention to their bottoms—and colorectal cancer—by running or walking in their boxers, bloomers or boxer briefs!” Each participant received race-branded boxer shorts.

The following faculty are not pictured, but also participated in the run: Denise Molina (Assistant to Dr. P. Ravi Kiran) and Erin Testerman (Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse for the Dept of Colorectal Surgery).
