Salary and Benefits Benefits

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital provides house staff and their enrolled eligible dependents with hospital and medical insurance benefits, as well as vision and dental plans, with a variety of managed-care and preferred provider options. Long-term disability and professional liability insurance is provided at no charge to the house staff. Basic Life Insurance of $100,000 is also provided at no cost to the house staff employee. Dependent spending accounts and financial planning is also available.

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital FlexAbility Program

The following policies have been compiled by the Department of Graduate Medical Education at New York Presbyterian Hospital for use by the members of the Graduate Staff, Program Directors, and Clinical Leaders. NYPH is committed to offering quality GME programs as part of its education mission. The institution provides mechanisms the insure that all programs are in compliance with the Institutional and Program Requirements for Residency Training as promulgated by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Eligibility

Regular full-time graduate staff.

Legal spouse/domestic partner and unmarried dependent children to the end of the year in which they attain age 19 (to the end of the year they attain age 23, if full-time students).

Effective Date

First of the month coincident with or following date of hire.

Benefit Options

Confidential Counseling Service

The House Staff Mental Health Service (HSMHS) has been created to provide House Staff with immediate access to confidential, affordable psychiatric care with experienced clinicians. Program Overview: The HSMHS provides a free consultation for House Staff upon request. After this initial consultation, where indicated, a referral is made for up to 10 sessions per year of treatment paid for directly by the Hospital. All services provided are entirely confidential.

Eligible Employees: Active full- and part-time House Staff members of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital on NYPH payroll (the only exception are the Columbia House Staff members on the payroll of the Psychiatric Institute). Spouses/domestic partners and dependents are not covered under this program.

On-Call Meals

Snacks and juice are available in the fellow's offices as well as in the house staff lounge which is located near the call rooms in the Harkness Pavilion.
