Clinical Fellowship

The Section of Endocrine Surgery at Columbia University is pleased to offer a one-year clinical fellowship in Endocrine Surgery. The Section is staffed by four endocrine surgeons who offer a wide exposure to a variety of complex endocrine surgery disorders. Approximate annual case volume is as follows:

Thyroid:
Parathyroid:
Adrenal:
Pancreas:
Other:
300
250
45
200

The fellowship emphasizes minimally invasive techniques, the use of local/regional anesthesia, and video-endoscopic approaches. The fellow functions much like a junior attending whose responsibilities include managing the multidisciplinary Thyroid Clinic, leading rounds, staffing operative cases, resident and student education, and clinical research.

The application process requires

  • Completion or anticipated completion of an accredited general sugery residency
  • A formal letter of interest from you, including complete contact information
  • A letter of recommendation from your program director or chairman
  • A letter from a mentor who has influenced your decision to pursue additional training in endocrine surgery

Interviews will be conducted during September and October 2005, with the candidate being selected by early November. The fellowship runs from July to June each year.

Thank you again for your interest in our program.

Sincerely yours,
WBI
