Opportunities for Students
The Department of Surgery welcomes P&S medical students seeking exposure to the field of surgery, and offers myriad opportunities for students in all stages of training to learn and explore. Through the following programs, students are encouraged to meet Columbia's surgeons, spend time in the operating room, develop skills in suturing and laparoscopy, participate in live organ recoveries, and conduct research with a Columbia investigator. Additionally, students with ideas for new opportunities and events are encouraged to join the Whipple Surgical Society, Columbia's official student surgery interest group.
