Columbia Integrative Medicine Program
Internship Program


Committed to training future health care professionals in rigorous research methodology and providing exposure to complementary and alternative medicine, the integrative medicine program offers an excellent internship program.

Possible duties include patient recruitment and questionnaire administration, data entry, literature searches, and clerical work.

Qualified applicants will be enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and thorough; have excellent verbal and written communication skills; and work well independently.

A commitment of at least 2 days per week (minimum 15 hours) for 6 months is required. Benefits include exposure to complementary medicine and research techniques. Also, you may receive academic credit, if approved by your advisor.

Neither previous research experience nor a pre-medical academic track is required. However, candidates should have a significant interest in research.

The Integrative Medicine Program Research

Education of Healthcare Professionals

We aim to increase awareness of integrative medicine research and clinical issues among current and future healthcare professionals. In addition to our internship program, current endeavors include:

  • Columbia Medical Student Clerkship, which offers students training in clinical care and patient education
  • Lecture Series, which provides a forum for education and discussion on research and clinical uses of complementary therapies
  • The Wellness at Work Program, a special program of free weekly wellness classes for hospital and university staff. The focus of the program is on education in stress reduction and movement-oriented therapies.
