| Overview | These exciting speakers will describe evolving technologies that impact the practice of surgery now and will change surgical practice, research, and teaching in the future. The program ranges from percutaneous valves and circulatory assist techniques to the emergence of robotics in general surgery. We will cover a spectrum including the latest UV infection suppression, molecular engineering of the immune system, and biochemistry of biological adhesives, winding up at emerging applications of artificial intelligence and cutting edge radiology and computer graphics. We will peek at how the Coulter Foundation is building teams of surgeons and bioengineers who can convert dreams into marketable products, and we will discuss how these collaborations open doors to new marketing opportunities. This trip through the world of new and developing technology will also include important discussion of how to maintain human ethics and values in the face of a flood of technology. Finally, a representative of the upcoming generation of surgical scientists will give us our first look at how John Jones Fellows will approach surgical investigation . We believe this program will be educational, entertaining, and fun. Hope to see you on May 10! |
